GNCC Amateur ATV Race Report
Acerbis Loretta Lynn's GNCC

By Ryan Smith

This week the GNCC series headed to Hurricane Mills Tennessee for the Acerbis Loretta Lynn’s race. A solid 350 morning riders tried their hand at the course along with 260 afternoon racers. The morning race was once again won by Factory Yamaha racer Traci Cecco, but the race came down right to the last turn, were Traci was just able to put her Yamaha ahead of Angel Atwell on her LTEracing.com backed ride. The gap was only two seconds at the finish! Stephanie Parton finished in the third spot in the women’s class on her Factory Polaris and sixth overall.

Third overall went to Mike Benson on his FST/ Kawasaki ride. Mike finished just three seconds out of the overall and has come extremely close several times this year to taking the top spot in the morning, but just hasn’t been able to reach it. Chasing Mike for most of the race was Jim Stack. Jim faded back from Mike toward the end but the race was wheel to wheel for much of the event. Stack grabbed the second place spot in the U2 class and finished in the top ten overall. Third in the highly competitive U2 class went to ex pro racer Joshua Ribley, who also managed to stay in the top ten overall.

Can-Am once again swept all the other utility classes for the top spot. Cliffton Beasley took his fourth win of the season in the 4X4 Lites class ahead of Jerime Dudding, who took second place honors on his factory Can-Am. David Reese finished in the third spot for the fourth time this year to round out the top three in the 4x4 Lites class. In the 4x4 open class, Rick Cecco took his first win of the season aboard his factory Can-Am. Class points leader Scott Kilby did not attend because he was at another race racing for Can-Am. Jacob Kirst from Rabun Gap Georgia finished second also on riding a Can-Am and third place rider Bryan Buckhannon was also mounted aboard a Can-Am.

In 4X4 limited class, Factory Can-Am rider Mike Swift continues to just dominate the class with his 5 th win this season. Mike won the class by over five minutes, truly amazing when you think how tough the competion has gotten in the 4X4 classes.

Kevin Trantham finished second and Anthony Voight finished in the third place spot in the 4X4 limited class.

The battle continues in the Super Senior class between John Gallagher and Mike Ockerman. They have been trading wins all season long, but Mike edged out John this time around. Third place went to Ken Vickerd. Jimmy Houston was the highest finishing C rider in the morning race with a 13 th overall finish. He also took his first win of the year in the 36+ C class. Kevin Wall was only 5 seconds back in second and Jeff Stover finished out the top three. That class was jammed packed with 42 racers.

In 30+ C Michael Young won his fourth race in a row edging out second place Bryan McCarter by only seven seconds. Bryan had his best race of the season so far in his home state of Tennessee. Nick Adam finished out the day twenty seconds out of second place. In the 24+ class, Brandon Whistler took his first win of the season followed by Noah Riggs and Butch Jones. William Payne took his third win of the season in the 20+ C class ahead of local Tennessee rider Chris Bigg, and Fred Marley rounded out the top three. Buzz Deer won his second race of the season ahead of Christopher Newton and home state rider James Davidson. In the sport class Joey Margaria took home another win and an impressive fourth overall. The guy just makes that little Yamaha Blaster fly! Scott Sleepy took home second followed by Gabe Mckay in third.

In the afternoon race Jason Stover took home top amateur award with his 27 th overall run out of the Junior A class. Christopher Stephens finished in the second spot but had to really work for it, as Mitch Craig was only five seconds back in the third spot. Spencer Dickerson took home another win in the College A class followed by Michael Howell who took home second place in his first race this season. Josh Kirkland rounded out the top three.

In Vet A Travis Styles took home his first win of the season followed in by two guys from Pennsylvania: Brian Foltz and Ron Rusch. In the College B class, Parker Jones took home the top spot on his Risslers Extreme ATV/GT Thunder/MSI Racing Honda, ahead of Craig Bowman and Andrew Cornell on his Pirelli/Hiper/Derisi Racing backed Honda.

Justin Wright won the Junior B class in his first race of the season followed by points leader Allan Greenwood and Brad Wilson. Blaine Shick took home the win in the Vet B class ahead of Jason Lyons who made the trip all the way from Florida and Scott Wilson who took third on his Cardio Stack-backed Yamaha.

The racing continues in two weeks at the Wiseco John Penton, were the battles will pick up once more. Thanks for reading.
