The GNCC racers were again blessed with great weather other than the prevailing dry conditions and resulting dust. The Wellborn family has welcomed the GNCC family to the area and the local community is clearly aware of the event judging by the number of spectators in attendance. The points battles continued under near perfect racing conditions on a track that was prime for some good woods racing.
In the Big Wheel 14-15 class four stroke 150F rider Seth Murray from nearby Bostic, NC secured his second win on the season as well as the top overall ranking. Cody Mummert from Glenville, PA was second in class and second overall. Dylan Johnson from Thomas, WV was third, Gregory Funk of Clinton, OH was fourth and Scott Marling from Cameron, WV finished fifth.
There was bit of drama to unfold in the Big Wheel 12-13 class as Steward Baylor was riding with a foot injury. The early class leader Derrick Shaw from Buckhannon, WV was overtaken by a three way battle for the lead and ended up fourth. Zach Nolan from Arthurdale, WV is locked in a battle for the class championship with Baylor and on this day was able to secure a third. Baylor, who hails from Belton, NC, held off the charge of Nolan but was unable to keep “Mr. Consistency” AJ Stewart from taking the win and third place overall back home to Lake Lynn, PA. Justin Sode from Zanesville, OH rode to a fifth place finish.
Wil Coleman from Greenville, SC mounted a last lap charge to secure the win in the 85cc 14-15 class holding off Clover, SC rider Lucas Helms by a mere three seconds. Bryce Martin from Newnan, GA was third, Cody Carr of New Marshfield, OH was fourth and Jesse Vermillion from Greencastle, IN rounded out the top five.
The battle raged on in the 85cc 12-13 class with Chris Meadows from Athens, OH again taking the win in his quest to “win out” and secure the class championship over points leader Layne Michael from Fairmont, WV. Michael finished second on the day. Trevor Barrett from Charlotte, NC was third, Brandon Fouts of York, SC was fourth and Cody Gragg from Lenoir, NC was fifth.
Aaron Plessinger of Hamilton, OH again secured the win in the 85cc 7-11 class over a new challenge in the form of Grant Baylor from Belton, SC who has already secured the 65cc 7-9 title. Grant finished a solid second this day. Tegan Temple from West Chester, PA was third, Jarrett Dudley from Whitmer, WV was fourth and his HardCore teammate Samuel Evans of St. Albans, WV finished fifth.
The 65cc 10-11 class again had some of the tightest racing with points leader Jake Froman of Lynnville, IN taking the win in a hard fought battle with second place rider Austin Lee of Bedford, IN. Ryan Slopko of Londonberry, OH was third, Tristian Stumbo from Laurelville OH was fourth and Jesse Walters from Dayton OH put in a hard charging last lap to secure fifth.
The Carolina riders were strong in the 65cc 7-9 class with Connelly Springs, NC rider Dalton Hall taking the win, Mack Jones of Boomer, NC was second, Anthony Stone of Reedsville, WV was third, Blake Grindstaff from Vale, NC was fourth and Mr. Evan Earl from Blacksburg, SC (son of morning race overall winner Vance Earl) rode well to secure the fifth place spot.
