Elka Yadkin Valley Stomp GNCC

Round eleven of the Can Am GNCC series was held in Yadkinville, North Carolina for the Yadkin Valley Stomp presented by Elka Suspension. In the morning race, 259 racers hit the ten mile track set up in the tight woods. The race was won by Joey Margaria on his 190cc Yamaha Blaster, a truly amazing feat topping a whole slue of fast women, utility and 450cc racers. Joey took the win ahead of Scott Sleppy who rides a 250x in the sport class also. These guys truly deserve a big congratulations, as putting these smaller machines in the top two overall is a big deal. Third overall went to North Carolina native Christopher Newton, taking his second win of the year. Following Newton across the line in the 16-19 C class was Josh Konecheck, and taking third in the class was Buzz Deer from Indiana.
In the Womens class, Angel Atwell and Traci Cecco dueled the entire race and Angel took another win on her LTERACING.COM backed ride over Factory Yamaha’s Cecco and Factory Polaris rider Stephaine Parton.
Mike Benson was back to his old tricks, finishing as the top Utility rider at this event and winning the U2 class on his Four Stroke Tech backed ride ahead of teammate Michael Shelley. Robert Smith was sandwiched in the middle of the Four Stroke Tech riders on his BigNutzRacing backed ride, and the last Four Stroke Tech rider finished in the fourth spot, Jonathan Shelley. In the 4x4 Open class the top three spots were taking by Can Am riders. Bryan Buckhannon held off factory riders Richard Cecco and Scott Kilby for a big win in the 4x4 Open class. In the 4x4 lites class the lead went back and forth several times before Jerime Dudding took the top spot on his Factory Can Am Renegade 500 over Factory Can Am rider Cliffton Beasley and Factory Kymco rider Kevin Johnston. Michael Swift won the 4x4 Limited class again on his Factory Can Am ride and Kevin Trantham continues to put in great rides as he took second ahead of Anthony Voight, who rounded out the top three in 4x4 Limited.
Fred Marley took his first win of the season in the 20+ C class ahead of Mitch Wright in second and Steven Owen in third. Garon Davis won his first race of the season in the 24+ C class on his Regina/Stan Petty Insurance/IXCR.com backed ride. Rick Whistler was in the second spot and Daniel Regalia in third. Michael Young won his seventh race of the season in the 30+ C class followed by Chris Jones and Will Wilkinson. Sandy Ruth won his first race of the season in the 36+C Class ahead of Michael Hartzel and Phil Deschamps, who comes all the way from Canada.
The afternoon race saw 172 riders tackle the dusty trail. The highest-placing amateur was Michael Sroka out of the Junior A class on his Polaris, second went to Matthew Copley and third to Corbin Knox. College A saw Spencer Dickerson get back into the win column for the first time since Snowshoe. Josh Kirkland, the winner of rounds 9 and 10, had to settle for second this time just ahead of Eric Hoyland in third. Gary Bryson won the Vet A class for the second time this year in only his third race ahead of Yamaha rider Jeff Miller and Brian Foltz. In the senior class someone won the class without the last name Simmons or Wright as Michael Kyte took the lead on the last lap to win the Senior class ahead of Dave Simmons on his GTTHUNDER/North Ridge Yamaha/ITP backed ride. Dave Hogg finished in the third place spot.
The highest finishing B rider was College B rider Andrew Cornell as he broke into the top 50 overall with a 42 nd overall finish on his Derisi Racing/Pirelli/Hiper wheels backed ride. Ronnie Mills battled to a second place finish ahead of David Reeves, Cornell’s teammate on his Derisi Racing/Pirelli/Hiper Wheels backed ride. The Junior B class had Alan Greenwood taking the win for the fourth time this season ahead of John Mullaney on his Derisi Racing/Pirelli/Hiper Wheels backed ride. John also caught a fish in his bellypan skidplate crossing the creek and the fish took a fast wild ride for the remainder of the race.

Phillip Wall took the third place position in the Junior B class. Michael Galbreath took the win in Vet B ahead of Dan Dayak and Glenn Reed. The Can Am GNCC series heads to Powerline Park for the 12 th round next weekend.
