Nathan Kanney spent a few years toiling as a privateer in the GNCC Series, and he proved that in this sport, talent and desire can overcome any advantages that come with a big budget. Kanney topped the factory boys twice for wins in 2006, but instead of cashing in his success for a factory ride, he decided to move to Italy to compete in the World Enduro Championships. After a year of "College for Dirt Bikes," Kanney was ready to return to the U.S. in hopes of capturing a title. Trained hard by former GNCC star Steve Hatch, and with a potent Red Bull KTM300 under him, Kanney was fast and strong all year. He led plenty of laps and scored five podium finishes, all while continuing to work on those small pieces needed to become a consistent race winner. At the end of the year, he had it all figured out, emerging with a victory at the season finale in Indiana, and then representing GNCC Racing in Japan by winning the final round of the JNCC tour. One of the funniest riders on the tour, expectations are high for a Kanney title run for 2010.
