He came, he saw, he conquered. David Knight, the big man from the Isle of Man, had big shoes to fill under the Red Bull KTM tent when Juha Salminen, the 2005 and 2006 GNCC Champion, chose to head back to Europe for 2007. And Knight filled them well, dominating the GNCC tour in the same manner, taking two titles and winning 14 races through '07 and '08. Of course, by the time he arrived here in the states, Knight was well schooled in championship pressure, having won races and championships all over the world. Knight's size leads many to believe he's a brute on the track, but in reality his amazing balance and skill--honed through years of trials riding--gives him an all-around attack that no one in the world can match. He's also an outsized personality, always flashing a smile and not afraid to crack a joke about his competition.

His mission in the U.S. complete, Knight signed with BMW for 2009 to develop and race their new G450X Enduro machine in his native Europe. But Knight is a racer, and he plans on stopping by the GNCCs a few times in 2009 to show off his number-one plate and put the new BMW in the winner's circle. When it comes to GNCC racing, very few, if any, have done it better than David Knight, and tonight we celebrate his amazing two-year run at the top of the series.
