How did you get started racing? When I was younger I used to ride 3 wheelers a little bit. Growing up I rode dirt bikes, my dad wanted me to try. First time I did it I love it and wanted to do it.
How/When did you first hear about GNCC Racing? My dad runs a shop, and he had some customers who raced GNCC. He thought it was a good business opportunity for him, and soon the entire family was into it.
Part of the next generation of GNCC ATV talent, Brandon Sommers has climbed through the ranks in a much different manner than the GNCC stars of a decade ago. Brandon's father Laz runs GT Thunder, an ATV performance shop in Ohio that provides suspension and engine assistance to many top racers. Thanks to his dad's knowledge, Brandon started right, racing a Honda 400EX to a C class Championship, and then winning a B Title, then an A crown, before capturing the 2007 GNCC Pro-Am Title in dominant fashion. He rode consistently during his rookie XC1 Pro season in 2008, helped by taking all of the right steps in training, mental preparation, and machine set-up. Yesterday's ATV racers used to just show up and race. Sommers treats testing and training and practicing as a full-time job, and that work ethic could carry him to a GNCC Overall Championship in the future.
