Make A Wish Auction

GNCC racer Richard Lima contacted the Make-A-Wish Foundation prior to the Steele Creek GNCC to help host some children who really wanted to have a good time at the races. The day was a great success, with seven kids getting the VIP treatment thanks to Mr. Lima, as well as great hosts like Jack Penton from KTM and FMF Suzuki factory rider Jimmy Jarrett.

Those kids had a great time at the races, but the racers want to help out even more. At the Pirelli Big Buck GNCC this weekend, Richard Lima will hold a small auction for the following items. Whoever puts up the most money for each item gets it, and all of the money goes directly to Make-A-Wish. Big thanks in advance to Richard for setting this up, and also a nod of the visor to the racers who donated these items. Look for Richard's motorhome at the races this weekend to place your bid--bidding will close at 11 am on Sunday. Richard says he'll have all the stuff set up in front of his motorhome by about 7 am. You can't bid online, you'll have to put in a bid with Richard himself at the track. Look for the KTM #135 with Make A Wish graphics on it.

Here's a letter from Richard outlining the the program, and then scroll down to the see the items available for bid.

First, I would like to say that for our first annual Make A Wish event with the GNCC series was a complete success. I would like to begin by thanking the GNCC family for letting us do this. Also I would like to give a big thank you to the people and companies who went out of their way to help make this all happen. Thanks to Jack Penton and the whole KTM crew, KTM gave the parents and the kids a place to sit and watch the event at the KTM hospitality tent. KTM also provided snacks, water, juice, t-shirts and other items for the Make-A-Wish family and kids. Also a big thank you to Bob at Johnny Signs. Out of the goodness of his heart, he donated the graphics for Jimmy’s helmet and all the graphics for our bikes. He just asked me what do you need and how much of it and when do you need it by, no strings attached. Thank you, Bob!

Thank you to all the teams who donated stuff. Team FMF Suzuki, including Rodney Smith’s wife Lori, gave all the kids Rodney bears ,the team also gave them towels and key chains. Thanks to my good friend Jimmy Jarrett for donating his helmet and also for Glenn Kearney and Josh Strang for signing autographs for the kids.

Am-Pro Yamaha was also very supportive. Barry Hawk donated his winning gear from the race, (jersey, pants, goggles and gloves) to be auctioned off for Make A Wish. I would also like to thank my friend Shawn Remington for talking to Barry and letting him know what we were doing. That led him to donate his gear before the race. Thank you, Barry! Also, a big thanks to Fred Andrews and the Monster Energy team. All the riders donated their jerseys, so thanks Jesse, Cole and Scotty. Thank You to Shane Watts, who donated seven DVD's and signed them to all the Make A Wish Kids.

And one last big thanks to my wife Andrea, who was a big supporter in all of this. Lori Smith already told me she wants to be involved with next year’s event. If any one else would like to be involved they can contact me. 704-641-4212. Finally, all of the kids and the families that participated in the event had a great time and want to thank the GNCC family for being such great hosts!
