Menasha, WI: The infamous Unadilla GNCC, round number 10, was truly a race to remember this year for anyone and everyone involved in utility ATV racing. After coming all the way from Slovenia, Zakowski Motorsports guest rider Marko Jager proved that he wasn't here for fun and games, landing on the 4x4 Open podium with a 3rd place and just missing 3rd overall utility by under a minute. To add to his already amazing results, Marko was able to cross the line making it into the top ten overall with a 10th, a finish that many riders take years to achieve in a field of over 200 riders.
With the best utility riders America has to offer on hand, Marko made a huge statement for himself, Europe, and utility racing, showing what this sport is truly capable of achieving. Everyone stood with fingers crossed on the start, wondering if Marko could run with the pack, until the Kenda driven duo of Zac Zakowski and Marko came around holding the top spots. Marko would go on to fight for the lead over the next two laps before settling into 3rd while Zac would be held up in a bottleneck, setting him back."I knew that Marko was a good rider after training with him, but man did he show us. We were all amazed that he was swapping paint the entire race with the top riders and came so close to getting on the utility overall podium. This was the opportunity of a lifetime working with Marko and MS Racing and this definitely won't be the last time you see us on the same row," Stated Zakowski.
4x4 Lites rider Kevin Trantham put in a great run, running in the top overall positions, until getting a little too close to a tree on the 4th lap. Kevin attempted to run it easy to the finish but his quad was brought to a halt a few miles before the finish. Even with his problems, Kevin was able to salvage some points with a 3rd, getting even closer to the championship.
After getting through a bottleneck on the second lap, Zac Zakowski was set back around four minutes from the leaders. Only being able to make up so much time a lap, Zac would end the day strong with a 6th, making up over two minutes in the process.
Watch to see yet another wild weekend with Zakowski Motorsports as we head Mountain Ridge, PA for the GNCC round. In the mean time, you can rest assured that the riders will be training their tales off.
