Snowshoe Mountain, W. Va. (June 26, 2011) ‐ The Snowshoe GNCC is billed as America's Toughest race and this year proved to be one of the toughest. Round #8 on the series tested the rider's technical skills all day and WMR's Nate Kanney proved he is one of the best.
Rock gardens, hills and mud holes greeted the riders and a mistake in any of these areas could drop a rider 5 places in less than 30 seconds. Nate rode clean all day finishing 2nd overall and 2nd in XC1 missing the win by a mere 2 seconds!
WMR's OPEN A Fly sponsored rider Chris Douglas ran up front all day only to get passed on the last lap then finishing 2nd in Open A 20th overall and has now taken over the points lead in Open A. WMR'S Youth rider Michael Maresca moved up to the big bikes for his first race in the afternoon class and rode 200B. Michael showed great skills in navigating the tough course and dealing with his first 3 hour race and finished 3rd!
