Twin Air Snowshoe GNCC Race Report

(5/27/2011) - GNCC Racing made its way to Snowshoe, WV this past weekend. The Snowshoe course is known as the toughest race in America. The course offered up mud, rocks, and plenty of hills. Ask any rider at the finish and they would agree that this is one tough race.

The race started with the unique starting grid used at Snowshoe. Riders would leave the starting line in waves of five on the paved main access road to the resort. After turning right off the street they headed down the hill to the race course. Twin Air's Chris Borich would take the hole shot award and take the early lead into the woods. Borich would make a mistake in the woods and hand the lead over to Brian Wolf, last year's overall winner. Wolf would pull out a sizable lead before a broken chain would end his day. Twin Air sponsored Foremost Insurance/Warnert Racing/ Can Am rider Chris Bithell would take over the lead. As the race was coming into the last lap the action at the front was intense. Adam McGill on his Twin Air sponsored Can Am would blitz a mud hole to move past his teammate Bithell. Next to come by was Chris Borich. Unfortunately Borich's race would end prematurely when the muddy track would clog his radiator and over heat his Suzuki. Adam McGill would take the win and collect a check for $5000. Bithell would move back into second and Twin Air FRE/KTM rider Bryan Cook would cross the line in third. Twin Air riders would fill the podium of the XC-1 class at the conclusion of the day.

The XC-1 points race is tightening up as we move into the next round. Adam McGill is only seven points behind current series leader and defending champion Chris Borich. Look for the battle to intensify as the season continues in two weeks in Ohio.

The morning races saw some familiar faces at the top of their classes and the overall podium. Twin Air sponsored UXC Racing team riders Cliff Beasley and Michael Swift dominated their classes and took two out of the three overall positions on the final podium. Michael Swift would take the overall with Cliff Beasley in third. Another Twin Air rider, Bryan Buckhannon, would finish third in the 4x4 Open class and finish fifth overall for the day.

Twin Air would like to congratulate our riders for another great weekend of racing. Look for our riders to lead the pack at the next round of the GNCC series in Millfield, OH for The John Penton race on July 9th.
