Mesick, Michigan (June 12, 2011) -- A tightly wooded track greeted GEICO/ American Honda JG Off Road Racing's Scott Watkins at the Maxxis Wolverine XC OMA in Mesick, Michigan, round five of the series.

Watkins, flying solo at the OMAs for the first time since teammate Jimmy Jarrett's injury, walked away from the race with a fourth place finish on the heels of Jordan Ashburn in third, with Beta's Chris Bach in second, and Defending Champion Paul Whibley taking the win.

"It was a good day," Watkins said. "I didn't have the skill set for some of the fast sections, but I made it work."

The weather was optimal at the Michigan track, with temperatures hovering in the 60s, and the sky sunny and blue. Watkins took to the woods in third after another good start and  took his time around the eight mile track, getting used to the challenging course made up of mostly single track. Despite a few small tip-overs, Watkins found himself within sight of Ashburn and by the checkered flag, had closed in on his back wheel.

"The track was really tight, and it was a brutally slow pace, mostly in first gear," he said. "It's usually tight but this year they added in a lot more single track. It did have some nice fast sections that I enjoyed. Once again the bike ran perfect, and I'm looking forward to the Snowshoe GNCC."

The team will have a weekend off before returning to the Motosport.com Snowshoe GNCC, in Snowshoe, W.Va. on June 26.

Watkins would like to thank team sponsors JG Off Road, GEICO, American Honda, Kenda, Silkolene, EBC, Tsubaki, Ride PG, Rekluse, Moose, Cycra, Arai, FMF, G2, IMS, BRP, Renthal, Works Connection, Factory Connection, Smith Optics, and Sidi.

Watkins would like to thank his additional sponsors Parts Unlimited, and ProMoto Billet.
