Ft Smith, Arkansas (April 17, 2011) -- Round two of the Parts Unlimited OMA series, the Spider Graphix OMA, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, was a thrilling race for American Honda/GEICO JG Off Road rider Jimmy Jarrett as the Pro race went down to the final lap as Jarrett battled with defending champion Paul Whibley for the win.
The Arkansas round is new to the schedule, and presented new and fun challenges for the racers. Jarrett fired off the start line with another great start and soon engaged in what would become a race-long battle with Whibley, swapping in and out of the lead as the two made their way around the track, virtually unchallenged by the rest of the pack until Jordan Ashburn began making his way through the ranks. When Jarrett and Whibley got word that Ashburn was closing in, they picked up the pace and pulled ahead. Whibley would take the win with Jarrett finishing just 30 seconds behind in a hard-fought second.
"This is a brand new place on the schedule and it's for sure a place I want to go back to," Jarrett said. "The track was good, and offered a little bit of everything. The bike ran great and I had a lot of fun racing with Paul."
"It's really great to see Jimmy have such a strong ride and get up on the podium," said team co-owner Gretchen Bennett. "He's been working really hard this year and it's good to see his hard work starting to pay off."
Scott Watkins did not make the trip to the Arkansas round as he tweaked his back in practice earlier this week.
The team has a two week break before returning for the Parts Unlimited Loretta Lynn's GNCC in Hurricane Mills, TN on May 1st.
Jarrett and Watkins would like to thank team sponsors JG Offroad, GEICO, American Honda, Kenda, Silkolene, EBC, Tsubaki, Ride PG, Rekluse, Moose, Cycra, Arai, FMF, G2, IMS, BRP, Renthal, Works Connection, Factory Connection, Smith Optics, and Sidi.
