GBC's Kristen Atwell and Eric Hoyland Podium at Big Buck

Anaheim, CA- The Big Buck GNCC in Union SC is one of the longest running events on the schedule, and with good reason. The technical terrain, and crowd favorite "Creek Jump" help to offer up some of the most exciting racing of the year.

2010 Women's class and morning Overall champion Kristen Atwell earned the nick name "Lightning" over the past few seasons, and many insiders felt that coming into round 4 it was time for "Lightning" to strike. After grabbing yet another holeshot Kristen engaged in a 3 way battle for the lead that lasted until the final corner. Kristen was awarded 2nd place with only 4 tenths of a second deficit. She also earned 3rd overall for the morning race placing her on the event podium. This solid race for Kristen shows that the defending champion is getting back on track after some set back in the first 3 rounds. The competition may want to check the weather before lining up in Hurricane Mills TN in a few weeks, because preliminary reports show a strong chance of a "Lightning Strike".  Garon Davis is known for his comical antics off the track, but he proved once again by winning the Sport class that when he straps on his helmet he is all business. Forest Wharton is a perfect 4 for 4 after once again topping the 4x4 +45 class on his Dirt Commander equipped Can-Am. South Carolina's own Ashley Barbee earned her 2nd win of 2011 in the women's novice class, and now sits only 2 points out of the overall lead.

Brian Cook matched his best finish of 2011 with a 5th place in the XC1 class, Followed by Kevin Yoho with a career best 6th place and Jeff Pickens in 8th. "I can't say enough about how awesome my Race Rex tires worked out there today" said Yoho in a post race interview. Eric Hoyland's 3rd place finish in the XC2 Pro-Am class gave him his 3rd podium appearance in 4 races, and he sits solidly in 3rd for the season standings as well. Young GBC recruit Brody Livengood held the lead in the highly competitive college B class until getting hung up in a mud hole on the final lap relegated him to a second place finishing position.

The GBC crew will pack up and head to famed country western music singer Loretta Lynn's dude ranch in Hurricane Mills TN April 30th, where rock filled creek beds and near vertical hill climbs will be a grueling test of both riders and tires.
