Race Report
2010 Ironman GNCC
Team Off Camber Racing/Yamaha/Fastway/Klim/DRD
The Off-Camber, Pro-Moto Billet/Fastway Performance, Klim Gear, Dubach Racing Development, Rekluse Clutch, Yamaha Race Team headed a short hop down the road to the 13th round of the GNCC Series, the hugely popular Ironman GNCC in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The area and track was surprisingly very, very, very dry. No one on the team could remember the last time they were at this event and not knee high in mud and water. Usually the trucks are pulled in and pulled out of this event. The weather for the race was windy, but was a beautiful fall day on Sunday. The track was consistent with the last few rounds, it was rough, choppy and very, very, very dusty.
Amanda Mastin did not race the final round of the GNCC, she had secured 2nd Overall in the Women's Class several races before, so she took the weekend off to prepare for the ISDE in Mexico. Amanda and David leave on Tuesday for the event and are looking forward to representing Team USA once again in Mexico. Watch for Amanda's updates for the event. Maria Forsberg did not race the morning event either and opted to race the 3 hour afternoon race, where she rode in the 250 A Lites Class and ended up 7th in the Class and a very respectable 60th Overall. With Amanda and Maria not racing it left the Women's Class wide open for LeeAnn Bange and Ashley Crouch to fight it out and that they did. LeeAnn and Ashley were tied in points and who ever won would take the race win and 3rd Overall for the year. Ashley edged Leeann out right at the finish by a mere 10 seconds for the win. Amanda was hoping to win the Championship, but all in all she is pleased with her year. Amanda won 2nd in the GNCC Series, won her 10th National Enduro Series and will be going to her 10th ISDE, not a bad year for her!
XC1 Pro Eric Bailey got a bad start and had to push in the dust all day to make his day better. Eric finished 10th in the Class and finished a very impressive 20th Overall for the day. Eric held on to 12th in the Class for the year with 112 p0ints, Jimmy Jarrett was 11th in the Class with 132 points and Thad Duvall finished 10th for the year with 138 points. Eric was hoping to finish in the top Ten Overall, but it was not to be. Eric believes that his conditioning is good and that with a little more time on the bike and practicing with faster rides his results will improve next year. Eric would like to thank good friend, trainer and mentor Steve Hatch for all his help this year.
Chase Bishop did not race as he recently had surgery on his face from the injury he suffered at the last National Enduro in Indiana. Chase wants everyone to know that he is down, but not out and is looking forward to being back on the bike soon. Chase's recovery will be slow, but he is expected to be 100% again. Chase was able to hold onto 2nd for the Series Points, just behind his good friend and riding pal Jordan Ashburn who dominated the Class for 1st. Chase is looking forward to next year and riding for the Team again.
Duane Conner rode in the Vet A Class and just like was predicted, Duane's little brother Daryl made his first racing appearance in almost three years. Duane and Daryl both had bad starts and quickly made their way to the front of the pack, where they stayed all day. The boys rode fender to fender all day, never really being more than a couple seconds apart. Duane 1st in the Class and 29th Overall for the day, Daryl finished 3rd in the class, just 1 second behind crafty Steve Leivan, who stayed close all day. Steve nipped Daryl at the barrels when the whole Team unexpected him to be there. Congrats to all the boys in the Vet A Class it was a hard fought year for Duane. Phil Smith finished 2nd to Duane for the Championship. The Team looks forward to Duane racing again next year, even though he keeps threatening to retire and hopefully we will see more of Daryl also!
Rudy Austin met his goal for the year and realized a dream of winning a Championship in the States. Rudy is from England and since being a young lad has always wanted to race and win in the USA. Rudy won his Class and won the Vet B Championship. Rudy got a good start pulled away from the pack. Rudy won the Class by more than 5 minutes and had one of his best Overalls, 55th. Rudy is excited to win the Championship for the Team and all the Sponsors that take the time and product to help him be successful over here and realize his dream. He is looking forward to moving to an A Class next year and continuing to race for the Team. Rudy's brother and Team Sponsor Ryan was over for the final round of the year and was pleased to see his brother and the Team do so well. Ryan does all the graphics for the Team and spends a lot of his own time and money to support the cause. The entire Team would like to say thank you to him. Check out his graphics at his website www.proprinting.co.uk.
The team was pleased to host and have at the race Bob Mousaw from Klim USA. Klim USA is a great company with awesome products and they support the Team 100%. Bob has become more than a sponsor, he is now a friend and the Team would like to say thank you to not only him, but the entire family at Klim that takes care of us all year!
The Team would like to thank all their family and friends, both on and off the track who help make the racing possible. The list is much too long to mention, we can only hope you all know who you all! We would like to thank all the race support crews at all the races we do, we know how hard all you guys work to make the race happen and all our secondary family in the Pit Area that we can rely on for help at each race. Off Camber Racing would like to thank all sponsors that have made this year possible. Pro-Moto Billet by Fastway Performance, Klim USA, Dubach Racing Development, Rekluse Clutches, Yamaha, Motion Pro, Maxxis Tires, Spectro Performance Oils, Dirttricks, Steahly Off-Road, Scott USA, EBC Brakes, Acerbis, TCX Boots, Works Connection, Pro Printing.co.uk and Championship Powersports. Without the help of all these companies and the great people behind these products are team would not be able to keep going out there and winning every weekend! Thank You!!
