Race Report
2009 Can Am Unidalla GNCC
Team Off Camber Racing/Pro Moto Billet by Fastway
The Off-Camber, Pro-Moto Billet/Fastway Performance, Klim Gear, Rekluse Clutch, Yamaha Team riders, Morgan Moss and Mandi Mastin headed to New Berlin, New York for The Can An Unadilla GNCC this past weekend. With a good forecast for the weekend, fair temperatures and fair skies, the team was hoping for the same kind of results.
We arrived at the track Saturday afternoon to grey skies and drizzly conditions. Luckily the small amount of rain on Saturday didn't do to much harm to the track, only making some of the rocks extremely slippery in sections. Again this weekend, Amanda was mounted on the Yamaha WR 250. With little time on the 4-stroke and that is the bike she will be riding at the ISDE in a few weeks, Amanda decided that for the remainder of the season it will be beneficial to be riding and racing the WR. Amanda started the race with a not so good "holeshot" going into the second corner in about 5th place. "It took me about half the first lap to make my way up to 2nd place. The course was really fast this weekend, which made it hard to make passes on people. By the 2nd lap I was able to take the lead. Lap traffic was very difficult this weekend, because there were almost 500 riders in the morning race. In the end, I was happy with my class result and looking forward to having more time on the WR. I really enjoy this bike and can't wait to race it in Yadkinville!" Mandi finished the day 1st place in the Women's class and 39th overall. The Unadilla win stretches Mandi's point lead in the class to 10 points , making the Championship that much closer.
Morgan Moss headed to the line for the afternoon race with a confident, determined attitude. The days this happens, we all in the pits know, that it is going to be a good day. And that it was. Morgan got the holeshot of the line and never looked back. Coming through the pits each lap, you could see that Morgan was having a good time racing and enjoying the track. "The track was fun today. Some sections were totally slippery and the tires didn't want to hook up that good, but I think that is just how the terrain was and everyone was feeling like that. Besides that I had a good time, good race and I just put my head done and pushed for a good overall." Morgan's finished the day 1st in his class and an amazing 32nd overall, one of his best overall finishes all year. Congrats kid! The 1st place moves Morgan into 2nd place in the 250 B class, just behind fellow racer Brandon Higgins by 1 point.
The team will be headed for Memphis, Missouri for the OMA nationals this coming weekend, followed by round 11 of the GNCC series at Yadkinville, North Carolina in two weeks. To find information on either of these races you can go to www.omanationals.com or www.gnccracing.com.
